GM AHSN Prospectus now live - 2012-10-23

The Prospectus for the Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network (GM AHSN) bid has been submitted to the Department of Health and is now available to view and download.

GM AHSNThe Prospectus lays out the plans for GM AHSN’s vision and priorities. It looks at how we’re going to address and tackle the health and wealth challenges we have in Greater Manchester.

The bid has brought together organisations from across the NHS and academia to draw up plans on how to improve the health of people in Greater Manchester and the level of health service care. It is being led by David Dalton. He said: “We believe we have put together a bid that will deliver improved health and wealth for Greater Manchester while also delivering the requirements of the National Commissioning Board to implement and measure best practice.

“To put such a comprehensive and detailed bid together in such a short time has taken a lot of extra work for busy staff. However, organisations and individuals have come together in a way that I think is unprecedented, to set-up a platform for working together to improve services.”

While the Prospectus is an important part of the application process to become an Academic Health Science Network, the Greater Manchester team is continuing to engage with all its stakeholders, partners and those it may have relationships with in the future. The website is regularly updated with news and blogs about what plans mean for different areas of GM AHSN. We are also using social media to engage with healthcare professionals and getting the message out offline through roadshows and newsletters.

Next stage of the process

Following the submission of the Prospectus, a team from GM AHSN will attending an interview panel in November to discuss GM AHSN’s plans before a decision is announced later in November.

David added: “We’re still working hard in the run-up to the interview to ensure we have as much information as possible on our plans and how they will work. People can comment on the Prospectus via the comments section below and we will continue to consult with all our stakeholders.”
