Our facilities
With the £500m development of four brand new hospitals, and £400m invested to date in state-of-the-art university facilities, the Biomedical Research Centre is located on Europe's largest clinical academic campus.

Significant amounts of Biomedical Research Centre funding have been invested in developing our unique facilities. These include:
- The Arthritis Research UK Epidemiology Unit, a unique international research institution
- A biobank for the collection, storage and use of human biomaterials
- A Centre for Advanced Discovery and Experimental Therapuetics (CADET) for the development of new drug treatments
- Adult and children's clinical research facilities offering high-quality, patient-focussed environments
- State-of-the-art labs with new technology platforms, including next generation sequencing and high throughput technologies
- ICON Clinical Pharmacology Unit recruiting healthy volunteers to take part in studies
- The Maternal and Fetal Health Research Centre, Europe's largest pregnancy research centre
- Nowgen: A Centre for Genetics in Healthcare, aiming to inform and improve the practice of genetic medicine
- National Genetics Reference Laboratory providing dedicated support to UK genetics testing centres
- The Willink Biochemical Genetics Unit, the main diagnostic laboratory for metabolic diseases in the North of England
