Our commitment to ethical research

Biobank

It is vitally important that the public supports the use of human tissue to increase understanding of human disease and develop new and improved treatments.

We fully support the ethical use of human tissues and believe that in order to maintain public confidence and trust, all tissue used must be obtained ethically and with appropriate consent. There is an open access policy for researchers who are expected to use the tissue responsibly.

We are licensed by the Human Tissue Authority, have approval from the National Research Ethics Service to operate as a Research Tissue Bank and are a member of the Confederation of Cancer Biobanks.

"The Biobank have been invaluable resource, and I am sure that our study would have been virtually impossible to initiate and run without their fantastic support."
