Our research

The work of the Biomedical Research Centre speeds up the process of putting world-leading science in the field of genetics and development, into clinical practice within NHS hospitals.

This translation of University science into NHS medicine benefits not only Manchester patients, but also those nationally and internationally. This is achieved through the production of new clinical guidelines and the adoption of novel testing and procedures.

Genetics and developmental medicine spans all aspects of healthcare. Using translational infrastructure, our research focuses in particular on:

Women's health research areas Age-related disease research areas
Musculoskeletal and inflammatory disorders research areas Genetic medicine research areas
Child health research areas

"The BRC has transformed the clinical research landscape in Manchester and already allows us to provide our patients with innovative new treatments based on world-leading academic research"

Mike Deegan
Chief Executive of Central Manchester University Hospitals
